Deacon Billy Earl Land, a faithful man of God was born on November 1, 1941, at 1:30 p.m. in Center, Texas, to Willie B. Waterhouse Land and Bobie Land. He was the second son born to his parents. Billy provided much love and support towards his youngest brother, Ray. Charles, his oldest brother, served as Billy’s inspiration and nurturer.

As a result of his Christian experience, he was grounded and rooted in the Lord. Billy united with New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Deacon Land was a beacon of light with a legacy of service in the auxiliaries of the church. He was committed to serving in community outreach.

Billy matriculated in his younger years in the educational system of Center, Texas. His lifetime work career was with O K Concrete Company in Wichita Falls, Texas. He enjoyed his role as an interstate and intrastate truck driver. After more than forty years of loyal and faithful service, Billy retired. Billy retired with dignity, integrity and respect. He was the type of employee that everyone loved and admired. Deacon Land was married for 26 remarkable years to Mary Allen Griner-Land.

As Billy journeyed this life, he will be remembered as an honorable, God-fearing man with lots of humor. Billy was very respectful, illuminating with sophistication and style.

Billy transitioned peacefully from this life and into the gates of Heaven, at the age of 83, on April 25, 2025, at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital in Houston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by wife, Mary Allen Griner-Land; parents, Willie B. Waterhouse Land, and Bobie Land; and step-daughter, Carmen Rae Griner.

He is survived by his loved ones left to carry on his legacy and cherish his memory along with his devoted and nurturing brothers Charles Edward Land (Carolyn) and William Ray Land (Velma); step-daughter, Cynthia Jackson (Billy) and step-son John Griner (England); and a host of family and friends.

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

John 14:1-3
