Jane Frances Carter, affectionately known as "Sweet Sweet," passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, at the age of 74.

Born on June 27, 1951, in Wichita Falls, Texas, Jane lived a life marked by resilience, kindness, and an unwavering love for her family and friends. Throughout her life, she faced many challenges with strength and determination, always finding a way to persevere and move forward. Her ability to overcome adversity while maintaining a warm and caring spirit was an inspiration to those who knew her.

Jane was known for her sweet and friendly nature, her ability to listen without judgment, and her wonderful sense of humor. She loved making people laugh and had a gift for making others feel welcomed, supported, and understood. Whether through a heartfelt conversation, a shared laugh, or a simple act of kindness, she left a lasting impression on countless lives.

She found joy in crocheting, supporting her friends, participating in and encouraging others through recovery and counseling programs, shopping, and most of all, being a grandmother. Her grandchildren were a source of tremendous pride and happiness, and she cherished every opportunity to spend time with them.

Jane was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Cassandra L. Bedford, and her parents, James A. Hartsfield and Lizzie B. Yarbrough.

She is survived by her sons, Kirk Carter II and Keitrick Carter; grandchildren, Jacoby Fleming, Kirissa Carter, Trey Carter, Kendra Carter, and George Carter; siblings, Randy Hartsfield, James Hartsfield, and Aunt Bettie Cox; and a host of extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory.

Though she is no longer with us, her legacy of resilience, compassion, humor, and love will continue to live on through the many people whose lives she touched.

A Memorial Service celebrating Jane's life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Wells Chapel, 811 Woods Street, Wichita Falls, Texas.

My deepest condolences to the family for the loss of my dear friend Frances Jane. We were inseparable in Junior High. I am so happy I got a chance to talk to her six months ago and tell her that I loved her. I really wish I had been able to come to visit her like I promised, but God had a better plan. I will cherish the sweet memories of our childhood and she will always live in my heart forever. - Julia E. Holmes & Family

Frances you will be forever remembered in my heart and life. Your friendship started for us as elementary kids - A.E. Holland and our Elm St. - Eastside Jr. High then on to Booker T Washington High School. We always stayed in touch throughout our life journeys. We respected and loved each other! I knew you were going to leave but I wasn't ready. I miss you and I am grieving. We would laugh and talk for so long on the phone. Now my longtime friend Frances - you have gone home to the Father, our God. Rest In Peace
