Janice Marie Smith Cook was born on September 10, 1957 to the parentage of Cornelius and Maymie Smith in Wichita Falls, Texas.

She accepted Christ at a very young age. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. She attended Wichita Falls Public Schools and was very proud to be a part of the Wichita Falls High School Class of 1976.

Janice married Gary Cook Sr. on November 9, 1976. They were married for twenty five years before his untimely death.

She was a loving and remarkable mother to three children, Donya Smith, LaKenya Smith Breedlove and Gary Cook, Jr. She is also the best grandmother to eight grandchildren, Dajhanae, Dae’on, Keontre, Tarion, Donyae, A’Mariyah, G’Mauri and Kyndia.

Janice was devoted to her job as a CNA and Restorative Aide at River Oaks Care Center for twenty-three years until her retirement.

She was definitely the life of the party. She was fun, loving, caring and loved by so many. She departed this life on November 7, 2019.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius and Maymie Smith; grandparents, Ike and Bessie Taylor; husband, Gary Cook, Sr; brothers, Cornelius Smith, Jr., Joe Lee Nelson and Lamont Taylor; sister in law, Bertha Nelson; mother in law, Vinita Bailey.

Janice leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Donya, LaKenya (Demetrius) and Gary, Jr. (Sabrina); siblings, Jacquelyn Davis, Gwendolyn Mitchell, Jerry Smith, Sr. and Sharon (Myles) McPherson; God brother, Ronald (Alicestean) Thomas; sister in law, Nyon (Darrell) Douglas; brother in law, Eugene (Sharon) Cook; three God children, Christopher Cotton, Sr., Shana Ware and Heather Mack; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

    To the family, May God comfort and strengthen you all in time of loss. I had the pleasure of working with Janice and she was such a joy to work with, always happy and kept us laughing. Rest in peace.

    To the family of Janice such a deep lost to loved ones I'm very saddened a God has many ways of understanding humanity and the Lost and the living I encourage the family to look higher to the hills God cannot lie it is most loving to see one another to embrace one another cherish the moments of Janice and the laughter and what she brought to the table for Christmas and Thanksgiving and even New year's may God bless the family amen.
