Jerry Jerome Smith, Sr. was born to the union of Cornelius Smith Sr. and Maymie Smith on September 14, 1956 in Wichita Falls, TX. He departed this life on December 27, 2025.

Jerry attended Wichita Falls High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1975. He also graduated from Culinary Arts in Denton, TX. He was an extraordinary boxer with the Pan American Boxing Team for many years. He coached the Leopards Little League Football Team.

He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where he was active in the Male Chorus and a part of the Kitchen Staff.

Jerry worked for the Clinics of North Texas and Luby’s Cafeteria. He owned a Barbecue Catering Service for many years.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Maymie Smith; grandparents, Ike and Bessie Taylor; brothers, Cornelius Smith, Jr. Joe Lee Nelson, and Lamont Taylor; sister, Janice Cook; children’s mothers, Juanita Carmichael and Luresa Bracks; nieces, Angela Nelson and Ursula Greer; nephews, Victor Greer and Joseph Greer, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memories and legacy, children, Marcus Bracks, Sr., George Carmichael, LaTara Smith (Wataskie), Jerry Smith, Jr., Jerrion Smith and Jada Smith; many grandchildren; sisters, Jacquelyn Davis, Gwendolyn Mitchell, Sharon McPherson (Miles); Godbrother, Ronald Thomas (Alicestean); best friend, Victor Robertson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
