Mrs. Johnnie Mae Jones was born June 17, 1927, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to the Late Ellis Sanders, and Pearline (Sheppard) Sanders. She was the third child of five children, raised in a home filled with faith, music, and an unwavering love for family. She departed this life on August 10, 2026, at her daughter home, surrounded by loved ones, after a life richly lived for 99 years.

Johnnie Mae accepted Christ at an early age and united with Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for over seven decades. She was a seamstress and known as a home beautician from time to time. Her hands were always busy cooking, tending to her yard, and children, she was an example to the children in the neighborhood; always had a smile and a word of encouragement.

In April 1947, she married Johnny Jones, to this union was born three children. Mrs. Jones house was a landmarked for hospitality on the block. Mrs. Jones acted as housekeeper for the Taubert family for over 40 years she was known throughout Wichita Falls for her exquisite needlework and her Lemon Pound Cake.

She leaves a legacy of quiet strength, dignity, and grace. She taught us that same elegance and kindness, that faith is daily practice, and that love is shown in small, consistent acts.
