Lear Hamilton, a retired nurse and life long resident of Wichita Falls (except a short stint in Dallas Texas) passed away November 16, 2025 at the age of 87 while staying with her daughter in Forney,TX.

Lear was born March 23, 1938 to Emmett and Bertha McBride and attended school in the WF school district. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School where she met the love of her whole life, Alford Louis Hamilton, Lear and Al were married 65 years until his passing in Oct 2021. She was a long time member of Anderson Chapel AME Church where she was saved and professed her love for Christ. She loved music and was a member of Anderson Chapel’s music and worship team. Al and Lear later united with Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Lear attended Nursing school and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She worked at the State Hospital in Wichita Falls, the VA hospital in Dallas, and a local private physicians office in Dallas until her retirement.

She had a large family of siblings. four sisters Emmettene McBride Owens (deceased) Ethelyn McBride Gillespie (deceased) Wanda McBride Hunter and Cheryl Littles of Oklahoma City, OK. seven brothers, Emmett McBride Jr (deceased) Lawrence McBride (deceased) Thomas McBride (deceased) Price McBride (deceased) Ryan McBride (deceased) Ossie and Lacy Littles (both deceased).

Most that knew her knew she was not an introverted quiet individual. She was opinionated and didn’t mind sharing that opinion. She loved to laugh and watch western shows. She loved her large family of siblings, kids, grands and got to spend time with her great grands. Her dogs became her second set of kids and frankly she often preferred them to people.

She and Al liked to travel but she hated his driving and often told him so. They attended many events with Key West Lodge #257 all over Texas and out of state with her in the passenger seat.

She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Viveca Williams and her favorite son in law Leonard; Son Darren Keith and wife, Cheryl, and son, Alford Lloyd; nine grandchildren; a whole thriving generation of great grands, (seventeen and counting); her “adopted” Godchild, Sherry Clement and her very dear former neighbors, Greg and Heather Johnson and their children.

My deepest sympathy to the Hamilton family, Ms Hamilton wasn't there lady for the laughter quotation mark and yes she did speak her opinionated mind with authority but truth. The late Alfred Hamilton her husband he was a very quiet gentleman. But he got his point across such a lovely happy marriage with these two individuals that I can remember from the seventies of my life. There was always something interesting at the Hamilton's family so hanging out with her son Lloyd and Keith and I remember vivica. The miles family the petty family the Hicks family, the Humphrey family. The Solomon family. The Jones family. And Lonnie's barber shop we were all neighbors in that region. And the Hamiltons were very well respected. She would be truly missed May her spirit fly with the doves in the name of Jesus Christ amen.
