Mildred Adair was born to Charlie and Thelma Johnson on August 5, 1942 in Calvert, TX. She gained her wings on August 22, 2023. She was fondly known as “Woman” by her immediate family. She married Willie Joe Adair on December 31, 1962 and through this union two children were born, Marcus Adair and Jennifer Lynn Adair.

She was employed at Levi Strauss & Company until its closing in 1999. She later worked at Health South as a CNA caring for clients as if they were her own family.

Mildred had an infectious smile. She would bring joy when she entered into any room. She loved to bake and was affectionately known for her cakes, pies, tea cakes dressing and salmon Croquette which was filled with love.

She was an active member of St. John Baptist Church for many years. She served on the kitchen and usher board ministry.

Mildred in preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Thelma Johnson and daughter, Jennifer Adair; brothers, Marcellous Johnson, John L. Johnson; sisters, Trulius Mitchell, and Gloria Conner.

She leaves in God’s care, son, Marcus (Sandra) Adair; grandsons, Desmond Adair and Demrick A. Smith; granddaughters; Marquitta Adair Hayward and Deshaun Adair; five great grandchildren; sisters, Minyon (Rev. Robert) Batts, Lovie (Rev. Artis) Allen, Ester Rich, Carolyn Rosemond; brothers, Charles Johnson and Charlie Jeffrey; brother in law, Ernest (Mary) Adair; a host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

    I was shocked when I saw that Mildred was gone. I usually would stop by to see her I come in from Houston Texas. Willie Joe and I finished high school together, and we had a mutual friend named Amanda Broussard. I am so sorry.
