Burial will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery Monday, October 17, 2022, at 1:00 PM

Otis E. Taylor, Sr., died peacefully on Saturday, October 8, 2022, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Otis was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on October 4, 1954, to the union of John Taylor and Christine Hurd Taylor. Otis excelled at playing basketball and running track. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1972. Otis served in the United States Navy. He was later employed by North Texas State Hospital and retired in 2021. Otis enjoyed watching many different sports and was a longtime fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Otis was a proud father who enjoyed visiting with his children and grandchildren. Otis is preceded in death by his parents, John and Christine Taylor, brothers Lois Briley Jr, Geane Jackson, and Carl Taylor.

Otis is survived by his children, Shirley Taylor of Long Beach, CA, Otis Taylor Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada, Tameka Taylor of Newport News, Virginia, Otishia Taylor-Houston (Phillip) of Carrollton, Texas, and Oscar Taylor of Wichita Falls, Texas; his brothers Mark Taylor (Juanita), Nelson Taylor, Nicholas Taylor, sister Joyce Ann Harris, longtime friend Penny Estridge, 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives & friends.

    So sad to hear of this. I knew Otis from elementary school. He was a constant presence in my early years. I am so sorry for his loss to his surviving family. May he RIP.
