With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate Renard Johnson, 67, of Wichita Falls, Texas, who transitioned peacefully on February 6, 2026.
Renard was born on November 5, 1958, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to the late Herman Johnson and Rosie Johnson. As the third of four children, he was raised in a family grounded in love, laughter, and strong values that shaped his life.
Renard was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, mentor, coach, and friend whose presence lit up every room. Known for his quick wit and playful sense of humor, he had a special gift for making people laugh, even in difficult moments. If you knew Renard, you knew he always had a joke ready or was playfully teasing someone he loved. His smile was contagious, and his love for his family and community ran deep.
A faithful Christian, Renard lived boldly in his faith and led by example. He believed in showing up for others, offering encouragement, and pouring wisdom into the next generation. His favorite scripture was Psalm 107:1:
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.”
He lived these words daily through gratitude, faith, and service to others.
Renard was a dedicated employee at Sheppard Air Force Base, where he worked faithfully for many years and later retired as a respected supervisor. He was admired for his leadership, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence.
Football was one of Renard’s greatest passions. For more than 30 years, he devoted his time to coaching youth football with the American Wolverines, mentoring countless young men in the Wichita Falls community. To many, he was more than a coach; he was a father figure, role model, and source of encouragement. Renard was also a devoted fan of the Oakland Raiders. Win or lose, his loyalty to his team never wavered.
Renard leaves to cherish his memory: his children, LaKeishia (Jason) Washington, Tacoya Renee Vaughn, and Renard Vaughn; his beloved grandson, Darius Arnold; his loving mother, Rosie Johnson; his youngest brother, Darryle (Tracy) Johnson, also known as “Mickey”; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, former players, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Johnson; his grandparents, Daniel and Katie Pride; his eldest brother, Herman Ladale Johnson; and his sister, Sandra Johnson (Ray) Hendricks.
Though we mourn his absence, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, service, and faith. Renard’s legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him.

Renard, my brother and classmate(1976). You will be missed greatly. We had great times growing up on the Eastside and going to school out in that cold snow and sleet. We both loved football and I don't how you became a Raider fan when I'm the one who lives in California and still a Cowboy fan. Brother, I wish I could have seen you again but time and distance always plays a part in great friendships. You lived a great life and even more, you were a part of mine. Rest in peace my friend. Wilbert Jackson
