Rev. Donnie Ray Palmer, Sr. was born May 20, 1955 to Wiley Palmer Sr. and Elizabeth Palmer in Wichita Falls, Texas. He attended Hirschi High School. He served the Lord as a Minister for 30 years. He departed this life on February 27, 2026. He was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.

He worked numerous years at the Eastside YMCA before retiring. Serving in many capacities from Lifeguard and Janitorial. He worked at SAFB in Housekeeping before having to quit due to health issues.

He coached football at the Boys and Girls Club for over 25 years. He loved watching sports, mainly the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers.

He is survived by sons, Donnie Palmer II (Kayara) and Anthony Johnson (Shebrena); sister, Jacquelin Palmer Jones; brothers, Lacy Watson and Christopher Palmer; grandchildren, Motrezjah Johnson, Donnie Palmer III (KeYana), Isacc Palmer and Zaria Palmer; great-grandchildren, Zahava Davis, Aaleah Woodard, Ky’Mari Johnson and Zuri Palmer. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by mother, Elizabeth Ford; father, Wiley Palmer Sr.; brothers, Wiley Palmer Jr. Gene Palmer and Terrance Sheppard; sisters, Patricia Jacobs and Barbara Palmer
