Rodney Martin Wallace was born March 15, 1960 to the late Andrew Wallace Jr. and Annette Harrison-Wallace in Snyder, TX. He departed this life on October 9, 2021. He received his education from Wichita Falls Public School System, graduating from S. H. Rider High School in 1978.

Rodney met and married the love of his life, Sylvia Johnson, on August 10, 1991 and to this union one daughter was born.

Rodney worked for Cryovac for 20 years in Iowa Park, TX. During his time there, he developed close bonds and lasting friendships. Through these bonds several men formed a group that would meet once a month and have fun, food and fellowship. They called themselves “Group of Brothers for Life.” He then began working for Sharp Iron, working there for the past twenty-two years until his health began to fail.

He was a tireless worker. He was a handyman, during home repairs, doing deliveries for Meals on Wheels for his church, Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. There was nothing you could ask him and he would not do for you.

Rodney was always full of life; smiling, laughing and joking around. Most of all he was a devoted son, husband, brother and a proud “PaPa.”

He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Preceding in death were his parents, Andrew Wallace, Jr. and Annette Wallace; maternal grandparents, Jurell and Pearl Harrison; paternal grandparents, Andrew Wallace, Sr. and Bessie Lee Wallace; and grandson, Zian Wallace.

He leaves to cherish his memories, wife of thirty years, Sylvia Wallace; daughter, Renisha Wallace; sisters, Marie Wallace Nelson (Alonzo) of Wichita Falls, TX; Regina Wallace of Hinesville, GA, and Ferin Wallace Nelson Scott (Bernard), The Colony, TX; aunts, Ola B. Riggins of Houston, TX, Dollie Harrison of Snyder, TX; grandson, Remarrion Goram and granddaughter, Rikelle Richmond; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

To Those I Love and Those Who Loved Me

When I am gone, release me, let me go; I have so many things to see and do. Don’t tie yourself to me with tears. I gave you love. You can only guess how much you gave me in happiness and I thank you for the love you each have shown, but it is time I travelled alone. So grieve awhile for me, grieve, if you must; then let your grief be comforted by trust. It is only for a while that we must part, so bless the memories within your heart. I won’t be far away. For life goes on. So if you need me, I will be near; If you listen within your heart, you will hear, All of my love around you, soft and dear. And then when you must come this way alone, I will greet you with a smile and a “Welcome Home”
