Sam Noah Russ, Jr. was born on January 8, 1952 in Miami, Florida to Sam Noah Russ, Sr. and Henrietta Henderson. He was raised by his grandma Murry Web and Aunt Wiste Thomas. He gained his wings on April 10, 2020.

Sam was very close to his cousin Darlene “Dodey” Grimes. Sam attended school at Miami Killian Senior High School. He moved to Wichita Falls, Texas to join the Air Force in 1973. He was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base and later relocated to Randolf Air Force Base.

Sam loved the band and was very talented at playing many instruments. When he wasn’t enjoying his music, you would find him fishing and hunting.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam Noah Russ, Sr. and Henrietta Henderson; grandmother, Murry Web; aunt Wiste Thomas; brother Gentle “Red” Hayes; granddaughter Natasha Alice Zae Clark. Sam leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife, Bonnie Gayle Russ; his loving daughters, Samantha Nicolle Russ, Judy Wiggins, Sherrie (Michael) Thompson and Verneka Bullard; son, Ezekiel Wiggins, Jr.; forty grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends.

Today a Soldier came home not marching down the street to waves and cheers but in a box covered with a flag of Red, White and Blue.

From the time I was conceived God had for me a plan. He wanted me to get involved to help my fellow man.

I’ve told God my stories and how much I had to fight Then the Father that knew me best said you can stop the fight and rest.

Since the day He took me home, I’ve had perfect rest. God and I both have seen the many tears you’ve cried.

He is a God of comfort whose love never cease. Give your feelings to him and He will give you peace.

So don’t give up my loves ones, My memory is still alive Put your trust in the Lord, I know you all will survive.

To My Husband

Thank you for your endless love, That helps me through each day, and thank you for the memories, That never fade away.

You're the man I loved, And I was proud to be your Wife. And every day in some small way I'll celebrate your life.

And though it's sad to think about, The way things were before, When we're re-united, It will be forevermore. Author Unknown

Your Loving Wife, Bonnie

Bonnie, It was such an honor to take care of Sam at Hospice. You and your family were such a blessing to watch! I always felt the presence of God when I walked in Sam's room. It was like I was standing on holy ground and there were angels all around! I am praying for peace and strength for you and your family. I will never forget you. Love, Jan Fleming, CNA Hospice of Wichita Falls
