Theodore “Ted” Hendricks was born on July 22, 1952, at 12:40 a.m. in Chicago, Illinois, to Nathan and Annabelle (Seay) Hendricks. Ted was raised in Chicago, where he attended Kenwood Elementary School and graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1971.

In July 1971, Ted joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, and during his military service was deployed to Guam and Blytheville, Arkansas. Ted attended Fort Lee Technical School of Food Services, where he specialized in food services. Through his dedication and hard work, he attained the rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged in July 1975.

While stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base, Ted met the love of his life, Linda K. Taylor. The two were united in marriage on August 4, 1973. Together, they were blessed with three daughters, Angie, Christy, and Tashia Hendricks. After his military service, Ted and his family made Wichita Falls, Texas, their home again.

Ted was a man of many passions and talents. He had a deep love for martial arts, participating in Tae Kwon Do and earning a black belt in Karate. Those who knew Ted will also remember his wonderful sense of humor. He had a way of making people laugh and bringing joy into the lives of those around him. He was also a devoted dog lover and had a special bond with his dog he left behind, Gucci.

Above all, Ted treasured his family. He was a dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was deeply loved and cherished by many. His presence, laughter, humor, strength, and love created memories that will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

Theodore was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan Hendricks and Annabelle (Seay) Hendricks; his sisters, Janice Bryant, Maxine Fulce, and Beverly Sakalas; his brothers, Nathan Hendricks Jr. and Alfred Hendricks; his nephews, Patrick Bryant and Chris Bryant; and his great-granddaughter, Keimani Hendricks.

Ted leaves to cherish his precious memories his three daughters, Angie, Christy, and Tashia Hendricks; eight grandchildren, Niacole Hendricks-Jarrett, Jequavia Pool, Teddi Hendricks, Destiny Hendricks, Christian “BigMan” Hendricks, Jaylen Nobles, Kennedi Hendricks-Carraway, and Kayelind Carraway; and eleven great-grandchildren, Heaven Hendricks, Nevaeh Williams, Key’Sharia Carroll, Keithan Williams Jr., Key’Avia Carroll, Kay’Den Hendricks, Kash Hendricks, Kamryn Hendricks, Kailynne Hendricks, Keyomi Wilson, and Christian Hendricks Jr.

He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Ezekiel Bryant Jr., Deana Fair, Donna Watson, Nathan Hendricks III, Mark Hendricks, Stacy Hendricks, Peter Hendricks, Darryl Hendricks, Deanna Fulce, Vernett Fulce Jr., Andre Fisher, James Perry, and Nathan Perry, along with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Though Ted has taken his final journey, the love he shared, the laughter he brought, and the memories he created will live on through the many lives he touched. His family will forever carry his legacy in their hearts and give thanks for the years, memories, and love they were blessed to share with him.

Rest peacefully, Ted. Your memory will live on forever.
