Warren Mackey III, affectionately known as “Baba,” passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, at the age of 59. He was born on August 27, 1966, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to the late Evelyn Mackey and the late Warren Mackey Jr.

A proud graduate of James Madison High School in Dallas, Texas (Class of 1985), Warren went on to serve his country with honor and distinction in the United States Navy. He dedicated over 20 years of service and retired honorably in 2006 in Hampton, Virginia.

Warren was an incredible son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. A true die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and loyal New York Knicks supporter, he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his teams. He had a passion for live music, traveling to new places, and—above all—cherished spending time with his family. He was the heart of every gathering, creating lasting memories and beloved traditions that will be carried forward for generations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Warren Mackey Jr.; his beloved daughter, Markita Madden and brother, James Mackey

Warren’s memory will be lovingly cherished by his devoted and faithful wife, Ernise Mackey; eight children: Jaurell Mackey, Trazell Mackey, Jessica White (Heshimu Thomas), Keaton Smith, Ivory Mackey, Kimberly Ellis, Azzurae Smith, and Alton Mackey; and his twenty-five beloved grandchildren; siblings, Trina Curry-Mackey, Darren Green, and Courtney Green; a host of shipmates, extended family members, and countless friends who were touched by his kindness and vibrant spirit.

Warren will be remembered for his unwavering love for family, his infectious humor, and his gift for connecting with everyone he met. He embraced life with joy and resilience, whether watching football, playing games of chance, or laughing with loved ones at family gatherings. His legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.

“Cheering the Cowboys from Heaven.”

In Loving Memory of My Wonderful Husband

Warren, our journey (7th Grade, Kirby JH to
September 21, 2025), has come to a close. This is
not a goodbye, but until we are together again,
know that you have held my heart.

Of all the special gifts in life
however great or small,
to have you as my Husband
was the greatest gift of all.

May the winds of love blow softly
and whisper in you ear
“We love and miss you
and wish that you were here”

Deep in our hearts, your life is kept
to love and cherish.
but yesterdays are always there.
A silent thought, a secret tear
keeps your memory ever near
in our hearts forever.

Loving you always,
Your wife---Mrs. Ernise Mackey
